DEAR COLLEAGUES:

We are pleased to announce the program for the 2013 HTRS Scientific Symposium. The mission of HTRS is to advance research, education, and mentorship with the goal of improving care for persons with disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis. This year, we have created a program that balances bleeding and clotting issues, as well as pediatric and adult topics. We are grateful to the national and international speakers who have agreed to present at this meeting.

This year, the case-based learning session has been modified to benefit from our expert speakers in the new "Challenging Clinical Conundrums" session, scheduled for Friday afternoon. The very popular "Nursing Pre-Conference Meeting" takes place on Thursday afternoon, and there will be a variety of networking opportunities for other healthcare colleagues (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, pharmacists, physical therapists, etc.).

On Saturday morning, the four highest scoring abstracts from our HTRS 2013 Travel Award abstract competition will be presented during an oral abstract session. Please encourage your medical students, residents, and fellows to submit an abstract and attend this meeting.

We look forward to welcoming a diverse audience to this conference, including nurses, genetic counselors and other healthcare providers, hematologists, general internists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, and any physicians with significant involvement in the care of patients with disorders of bleeding and thrombosis. As one of the major missions of HTRS is to cultivate the next generation of hemostasis and thrombosis healthcare providers, we warmly invite our junior colleagues to attend. Finally, whether you are a physician or non-physician healthcare provider, a hematologist, generalist, or other specialist, if you have an interest in disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis, please consider becoming a member of HTRS by visiting our website at www.htrs.org.

We look forward to seeing you in North Carolina and hope you enjoy the meeting.

Sincerely,

2013 HTRS Symposium Planning Committee: Bryce Kerlin and Keith McCrae (Co-Chairs), Adam Cuker and Veronica Flood (Co-Chairs Elect); Nursing Representatives Sue Geraghty and James Munn (Nursing Co-Chairs), Madeline Cantini and Maura Dumas (Nursing Co-Chairs Elect)
